30 Day Challenges, Part 9 - Keep Crying, Baby

Oh dear. It seems today's answers may be mildly depressing for those who know what I'm talking about, for all three counts - specifically the video game challenge today. Regardless, let us press on! Go forth and weep, gentlemen. I insist.

Doctor Who Challenge, Day 9
A Who-related photo that makes you sad.

Such was the popularity of Doctor Who in the 1960s, that a big-screen motion picture was developed, sharing the plot of the early Dalek episodes of the TV show. It was called Dr Who and the Daleks, and, while certainly a good film for its time and is a timeless relic in its own right, has become a sore, non-canon thumb in Doctor Who's otherwise pretty streaky clean history. The main character is named Dr Who, and there are Daleks. Do you see the problem? Peter Cushing plays Dr Who. How about now? No? Well I'll fill you in.

...they refer to "the Doctor," as Dr Who, and his name is Dr Who!! And "doctor" is contracted to "Dr". I'm sorry, Mr Cushing, but if it's all the same to you, as far as I'll ever be concerned, Dr Who stands for "Drive Who," and the insipid, product placement-riddled "Drive Who and the Daleks" make me very, very angry. Decent B-movie, mind.

Otaku Challenge, Day 9
Your favourite anime quote.

Spike Spiegel, Cowboy Bebop, Episode 26, "The Real Folk Blues, Part II":

"Bang."

Video Game Challenge, Day 9
Saddest game scene.

Videogames have never made me "cry," per se. Some have bought me to the brink of tears - surprisingly, Gears of War 2 nearly did, with Dom finding out his wife had died, or Jackie in The Darkness unwillingly killing his girlfriend. But there is a scene, the final scene in Half-Life 2: Episode Two, that, far from making me cry, had my mouth hanging open in horror and shock. I won't tell you, for it's probably the biggest Half-Life 2 spoiler there is. But those who know what I'm talking about? You know why this is my answer.

Rest in peace, old friend. And mark my words: you will be avenged.

Tune in tomorrow when you can see a Who-related photo that I took, find out the genre of manga I read most of the time, and learn which game in my opinion has the best gameplay!
